Joe Biden

There have been several attempts to add two cases of threats against Joe Biden to the article. But they were threats that were made in October 2020, when he was still a candidate. This article is supposed to be about threats against sitting U.S. Presidents. So I have removed the Joe Biden sections. James A. Garfield in 1881 was assassinated by Charles J. Guiteau on July 2, 1881 He was shot once in the arm and once in the back. He died of sepsis because of the unsanitary methods of treating the wounds.

Donald was indeed grazed with a bullet. You can see the blood come from his right ear in many photos circulating on the internet. Donald Trump listing:

As Former President Trump is a presidential candidate, and not the President, I do not think he should be listed on under this subject. While this assassination attempt will have a large affect on the politics of the United States it does not affect the running of the government or raise any of the issues addressed in the 25th amendment. Teddy was also a former president who was shot while campaigning, and he's been on the list since 2007.

This article states that Donald Trump had an assassination attempt on him while he was in office. This is not correct. Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate.

If you are referring to the lede, the "in office" statement only applies to Reagan. But, later in the article it does say there was an attempt in 2017 when Trump was sitting president, so please clarify what change you are asking for. RudolfRed (talk) 02:39, 15 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

"Presidents" vs "Presidents and former presidents"

I think Reagan's should be a separate section from Roosevelt's and Trump's, who were not in office at the time they were injured. Otherwise, the title of the section should be revised. Seananony (talk) 16:41, 15 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

There is definitely an issue here. This article begins with the words "Assassination attempts and plots on the President of the United States have been numerous" and notably the phrase "President of the United States" is linked to the WP article on *the* President of the United States - meaning the incumbent President - of which there is only one and can be only one (at any given moment in time). Unless the opening sentence is amended, this article can only logically deal with assassination attempts on the current President (who at this moment is Biden) and would have to be updated in real-time.

Alternatives are to amend the opening sentence to state "people who were the President of the United States or were former Presidents of the United States at the time of the attempted assassination", or to create a new article dealing with assassination attempts on "people who at the time of the assassination attempt were the President or a former President of the United States."

I also note that the timeline of assassination attempts in this article places a purported 2023 attempt on Biden after the 2024 attempt on Trump. As a simple issue of chronological order, 2023 is prior to 2024 and therefore the order should be corrected in this article.

And it is clearly questionable whether or not the 2023 incident described should count as an assassination attempt - the person who drove a truck into a fence might have wished to kill Biden, but it is obvious that his actions represented zero threat to Biden's life. If an insane person throws a stone at a pigeon in Trafalgar Square, London, and states that his intentions in assaulting said bird were to kill the President of the USA in Washington DC, is that an assassination attempt? Why do all topics discussing presidents assassinated, presidents wounded and former presidents all have photos of the presidents except for former president Trump?
